Black Shipjack is a ray-finned bony fish from the tribe Thunnini. These fishes belong to the family Scombridae and genus Euthynnus. These Shipjack fishes are endemic to the Eastern Tropical Pacific from California to Peru
The binomial name of the Black Shipjack is Euthynnus Lineatus. The maximum length of these fishes is around 84 cm and the average size seen is 60 cm. The Dorsal fin consists of 12-14 spines and 11 – 12 anal soft rays. The larvae are generally seen within 250 miles from the mainland. The weight of Black Shipjack is around 10 kg.
