Leopard Sharks have a scientific name Triakis semifasciata. These houndsharks belongs to the family Triakidae. As the name suggests; these sharks have a unique design on the dorsal park that resembles similar to that of the patterns of a leopard. The upper part has black saddle like markings along with large spots.
These sharks are found from the temperate waters of the North Pacific Ocean to tropical waters of Mexico. These fish swims in schools in sandy areas, around the reefs and are also seen near the coasts in water less than 4m.
The diet of Leopard Shark includes benthic and littoral animals, bony fish, crabs, shrimps, fish eggs, and clams etc.
